Thanks for the write up. Fascinating subject that I’ve wrestled with for years (as someone who followed cal newports advice and pursued valuable skills over passion).

On one hand, I’m essentially living Joe Duffy’s life, and I see the benefits. They’re real and enjoyable. I’ve also seen how a life lived without passion, on a longer scale, is truly deadening to one’s spirit. Even things like autonomy or better pay are consolation prizes when considering the feeling of enthusiasm from truly living your svadharma.

Like most dualities, I’ve been finding recently that there’s a vertical move that transcends or marries the seemingly unreconcilable split here
